Pricing FAQ’s

At present our prices / rates for brickwork per square metre are as follows:

Starting from £35.00 to £75.00 per sqm.

As you will see there is a quite a price difference with our rates, and this is because there are various factors that we have to take into consideration when pricing a brickwork job, and so we have to think about the below influences:

  • Is the build a straight run or are there returns and if so, how many?
  • Is site access, okay?
  • Are there facilities to move our materials and equipment easily around site (e.g., a forklift).
  • Will our bricklayers and labourers have to manually lift materials up onto their working area.

Once we have these details and a copy of any drawings you have, we will then be able to give you exact costs for our bricklaying services.

Our calculations are based on 60 bricks per square metre, using standard common bricks for the build.

Here are a few examples of what we would charge to lay 1000 bricks:

If we gave you a price of £35 a sqm

£35 divided by 60 bricks per sqm = .583, so we would give you a price of £583 for every thousand bricks we lay.

If we charged you £50 a sqm

£50 divide by 60 bricks per sqm = .833, so that would give you costs of £833 for every 1000 bricks we laid.

If we quoted a price of £75 a sqm

£75 ÷ by 60 bricks per sqm = 1.25 so the price would be £1250 for every thousand bricks we put down.

As a company we do not generally work on a day rate, as we usually find it is more cost effective for our customers to work by a metre rate. However, if you do require a price for a day rate, on average a two-man team would cost anywhere between £350 to £550 per day.

A decent, experienced, and qualified bricklayer will generally be able to lay around 500-800 bricks per day. But it really does pay to hire a professional company like Sussex Brickwork who only employ hard working bricklayers, that will get the work done and not hinder a project and as a result cost you time and money.

This would depend on the type of wall you need building. If it is a standard garden wall, then we would have to take into consideration the thickness and length.

Below are some example prices:

  • Single skin garden wall measuring 1m x 4m would cost around £825.
  • A 1m single skin x 12m brick wall would be priced from £1450.

For double skin walls our prices will be a little be higher as per our examples below:

  • Double skin wall measuring 1m by 4m would cost approximately £1250.
  • A new double skinned wall that measures approx. 1m by 12, our price would be around the £1850 mark.
